SSSS Inspections conducted Annually Proactively verifies Regulatory Compliance

Annual Safety, Structural, Sanitary, & Security Surveys for peace of mind.

Regular comprehensive surveys are crucial for maintaining water tower operations, water quality, and security. Safety surveys ensure adherence to OSHA regulations, Structural surveys involve interior/exterior inspections to check for corrosion, cracks, holes, or defects compromising structural integrity. Sanitary surveys check for compromised vent screens, overflow screens, man-way hatches and gaskets sediment buildup, and contaminants like animal carcasses or biofilm. Security surveys assess surveillance, access control, fencing, lighting, and monitoring to identify and address vulnerabilities. Implementing essential security measures like video surveillance, regular inspections, and disaster planning is vital. Covering safety, structure, sanitation, and security through comprehensive surveys protects these critical water infrastructure assets and ensures reliable, high-quality water delivery.

Arial Drone – ROV & Diver Inspections

Useful resources but not without limitations

Regular cleaning and maintenance of municipal water tower interiors provides numerous benefits:

    • Drones and ROVs (remotely operated vehicles) offer safer and more cost-effective alternatives to traditional manual inspections of water storage tanks.

    • They eliminate the need for personnel to enter confined spaces or drain the tank, reducing risks and downtime.
Drones provide aerial inspections of the exterior, while ROVs inspect the interior without introducing contaminants into the water.

    • Photo/video documentation aids analysis, reporting, and future maintenance planning.

    • Poor lighting, water clarity, and video distortion can limit the effectiveness of drone/ROV inspections in detecting certain deficiencies.

    • Diver inspections are useful when sediment removal is required, and draining the tank is impractical, as divers can physically access and clean the interior.

    • Divers can perform tactile inspections and detect issues that may not be visible through cameras.

    • However, diver inspections involve significant safety risks, higher costs, and potential water contamination.

    • In summary, drones and ROVs offer efficient and cost-effective inspection solutions but may have limitations in detecting certain defects. Diver inspections can be valuable for sediment removal and tactile assessments but come with increased risks and costs. A combination of these methods can often provide the most comprehensive assessment tailored to the specific requirements of the water storage tank.
